Nassau, The Bahamas
The 21-mile-long New Providence, Nassau really is a couples’ paradise, with its sweeping white-sand shores, pristine beaches, shipwreck-filled dive sites, and cuisine that has a flavor all its own.
One of the best things about an island-style honeymoon is going as casual as you want when it comes to cuisine. Sure, Nassau has its fair share of fine dining spots like the Bahamian-influenced Graycliff Restaurant, a gourmet eatery spread throughout the lavish rooms of the former family home. But you can also join the locals with street food-style fare served straight in the sand, noshing on seafood faves like fried snapper, grilled shrimp and conch served any way you’d like, best paired with a local brew like Sands.
These white-sand shores are so stunning; they’re constantly featured as the backdrop of blockbusters, like James Bond’s Casino Royale and the Pirates of the Caribbean. Pair the sugary sand with 300 days of sunshine a year and temps that hover around 80 degrees, and you have the recipe for the perfect island honeymoon escape with your hotel just minutes away from the sand.
For honeymooners, Sandals Royal Bahamian and Sandals Emerald Bay Sandals Royal Bahamian is a better choice for those who want to enjoy casinos and nightlife. The Riu Palace Paradise Island is a good option and comes in a close 3rd place, according to Brides magazine.
A one-day residency is required before obtaining a marriage license. For information and literature on getting married in The Bahamas, contact the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism at Phone. An affidavit is needed for persons wishing to be married who have never been married. This affidavit can be obtained through a Justice of the Peace, a Bahamian Licensed Marriage Officer, or a notary public, stating that the person has never been married. It must accompany the application for the marriage license. If either party has been divorced, the original final decree or a court certified copy must be produced. If either party is widowed, the original death certificate or a certified copy must be produced.
Formally known as Saint Barthélemy, St. Barts is an impressive island paradise that delivers low-key Caribbean vibes laced with French and Swedish-inspired finesse and flair. If you want a little more sophistication mixed with European influence and overarching natural beauty, you’ll find it on the island of St. Barts.
Many newlyweds and couples continue to flock here in droves, despite the heftier price tags. With 14 beaches awaiting you, you won’t have to search for a secluded stretch of sand. The best beaches include Anse des Flamands for the rolling white sands and verdant greenery, Baie de St-Jean for the beachside restaurants like On The Rocks, and Anse de Grand Cul-de-Sac for the watersports. If you’re after a romantic setting without all the grandeur, try intimate boutique Tom Beach Hotel.
St. Barts has become a high-class hideaway for well-to-do travelers and big-name celebrities alike, including Beyoncé, Billy Joel, Michael Kors, Chrissy Teigen, and Kevin Hart, who honeymooned here.
There are no cookie-cutter hotels on St. Barts. You’ll find small boutique properties like Le Guanahani, a seaside resort with Marigot Bay on one side and the Grand Cul de Sac lagoon on the other. The resort’s Coconut Grove is a popular spot for exchanging vows, while the poolside Indigo restaurant will wow your guests with its inventive seafood dishes and tropical vibe.
For a classic beach wedding with St. Barts flair, consider the five-star Hotel Christopher or the Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France, where even underwater nuptials can be arranged. Your sand-in-the-toes wedding at the dramatic Eden Rock can be capped by a private party in the hotel’s legendary Villa Rockstar; a 16,000-square-foot playhouse just steps from the shoreline.
You’ll need your Birth Certificate (with raised seal). Certificate of good conduct (including certification of single status). Residency card (one of the persons must have resided on the island at least one month). Medical certificate (including blood test), issued within 3 months of marriage.

If you want to feel like you’ve uncovered an opulent yet secluded spot with your partner, this Dominican Republic region is it. Samaná is a sleepy and traditional town on the Samaná Peninsula, which drops off into the sparkling waters of Samaná Bay — home to thousands of humpback whales during mating season from December to March. For accommodation, couples should stay on the beautiful isle of Cayo Levantado. Palm-tree lined beaches, and chalky-white sands can be explored at the adults-only, five-star resort of Bahia Principe.

Hikers can scale Pico Duarte, the Caribbean’s highest mountain at 10,000 feet, while strollers can shuffle along 1,000 miles of sublime coastline. For cultural immersion, history buffs can take a step back in time in the centuries-old capital, Santo Domingo. Wherever you go, you’ll hear the infectious sounds of merengue, the national music, and dance.
Before arriving in the Dominican Republic you should get permission to marry from the American Consulate in Santo Domingo. Then you go to the Dominican Consulate with all your documents and get them legalized at that time. When you arrive in the country, you present both these letters together with your birth certificate and any divorce judgments (if applicable) to the Consul. The Consul can and will instruct you as to where and when the ceremony may be performed.

Turks and Caicos
Who wouldn’t want to be in love on two hundred miles of powdery, white sands and gorgeous reefs that marry utter indulgence and beauty? The Turks and Caicos are an archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands southeast of the Bahamas. Romance-seekers today are rich with choices when it comes to elegant accommodations and dining here, particularly on the gateway island of Providenciales (known as Provo).
Try the sensational seafood at the candle-lit Anacaona or check out the lively crowd at Da Conch Shack and Rum Bar. Hotels and resorts are pretty much luxury only: Parrot Cay, a 74-room resort on a private cay, is for the couple who want to absorb all the beauty of the islands without feeling as if they’ve stepped onto a resort. Amanyara, on the other hand, is pure opulence with private villas and bungalows on the property which backs onto a protected wildlife park.
This easily accessible island chain has come into its own as a destination with glorious beaches, deluxe resorts, and an indulgent lifestyle. Unlike many Caribbean countries, the Turks and Caicos has one of the lowest annual rainfall averages in the region, and consequently a high percentage of sunny days and great weather.
The island of Provo offers some of the most spectacular beaches and ocean water in the world. From the unparalleled and internationally acclaimed Grace Bay Beach, to the sheltered and secluded Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Bay beaches, you’ll realize you’ve found paradise. Several of our beaches offer vibrant reefs close to shore and are perfect snorkeling sites to see coral, fish, conch, and turtles.
Must be present in the Turks & Caicos Islands for at least forty-eight hours prior to making this application. Cruise ship passengers may now apply for a special license for marriage on the same day of arrival. Must have parents’ consent if under the age of 21. Proof of divorce or death certificate if applicable.
